The wine estate of Chateau du Trignon was acquired in 1895 by Joseph Roux and run by his descendants until 2007, when Pascal Roux sold the vineyard to another esteemed Rhone Valley winemaker, Jerome Quiot. This winemaker also owns and runs Domaine du Vieux Lazaret in Chateauneuf du Pape and Domaine Houchart in Provence. The wine is made from 150 acres of vines in four villages: Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Rasteau and Sablet. Jerome Quiot has kept the same quality of the wine at the highest level with the same dedication as the Roux family.
We suggest you try Rasteau Rouge (Grenache 55%, Mouvedre 45%) Elegant nose of wild red fruits, spice and liquorice notes. A ripe character with a lovely round mouth. Often considered a masculine style wine, tannins are well present but refined. Wet-earth and blackberry flavors appear just before the finish composed of smoky aromas and notes of Provencal herbs.
Cotes du Rhone Rouge (Grenache 75%, Syrah 15%, Mouvedre 10%) The nose expresses bright red fruits with some exquisite aromas of fresh mint. The mouth appears well-balanced between freshness and structure. This wine is fruity and easy to appreciate.
These wines are available in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
