Summer is over and it is time to embrace this season of changing colors and scents. You can easily bring the look and fragrances of fall into your home with just a few simple and inexpensive changes. It's time to roll the rugs out, remove any summer accessories and usher in a beautiful and colorful autumn.
To make your home look more like fall, just change the color of candles, throw pillows and table runners incorporating rich burgundy, brown, green or gold. Fill glass cylinders with Clementines and branches, and insert four or six whole cloves into the fruit before making the arrangement or centerpiece. The cloves release their smell and the arrangement will be fragrant for weeks.
Pomegranates arranged in baskets are wonderful for creating a fall look for your kitchen. And use that special copper pot for simmering mulled cider with a few cloves and cinnamon sticks. Or, line a shallow dish or platter with fresh cranberries and arrange pumpkin scented pillar candles of various heights on top.
Try adding an indoor fragrant wreath or swag designed for the season and complement this with seasonal potpourri at strategic locations where people will be sitting or congregating. If you live near the woods, use the great outdoors as your home design store. Create a door arrangement using acorns, dried leaves berries, dried apples and leaves or branches.
And nothing says fall like mums. Mums are very affordable and can be found in all sorts of colors, sizes and varieties. Fill wood baskets with mums, and place them throughout your home to add freshness and color.
Then enjoy the colors and scents of fall in your home. |
