Autumn is one of our favorite times of the year, especially for new trends in fashion. We pack away the tank tops and swim suits and look forward to cozy sweaters and classic, stylish outfits. But most of us could use a little inspiration to revamp our look for this season.
This year, designers are returning us to glamour. Fall 2007 is all about looking like a lady.
Although the styles of the 80's are still going strong, they are being balanced with the glamour of the 1940's. Simple accessories are in. So pull out those strings of pearls and wear them in multiples, which will bring your outfit from blah to bling, with class. This season look for textures in tights - yes, we don't have to freeze to look fashionable this year. Knits with substance stand out as a major trend for fall in the form of oversized cardigan coats, dresses and chunky pullovers. Look for metallics and glitter threaded into tweeds, embroidered on brocades or knitted into sweaters. Gray is the new brown and navy is the new black for this season.
High-waisted trousers are back, generously cut or skin tight; the waistband is creeping up. And for the waist, the skinny belt is a must-have of the moment for dresses, skirts, coats and vests.
Large bags, totes and purses add drama, even for elegant affairs. Think pink for make up. Pouty pink lips and doll-circled pink cheeks add softness to all of that 40's glam and 80's wild. Shoes are big; big heels, tall boots, or thick chunky looks. Skirts are ultra long or ultra short, but fitted. And if you have curves, embrace them. The 40's flaunted hips and rounder bodies. This is the season for glamour. Have some fun with it! |
