Classic Fashion

Personally, I believe we should have fashion police. Who wouldn't enjoy giving a ticket to the overweight woman who wears spandex pants and a short top? Or the guy wearing pants that look like they are ready to fall off?

Fashion is supposed to accentuate our good features, help us look our best and hide our figure flaws. So when you are out shopping for Fall fashions, do your homework then try on clothes and actually look at yourself in the mirror. Is that the image you want the world to see or are you simply trying to follow the latest fashion trends?

Fashion trends come and go so if you are trying to build a wardrobe that works for you long-term, it is best to stick with the classics that never go out of style. Here are a few to consider:

Empire Waists - When it comes to disguising those little bulges, empire waist tops and dresses are ideal. For a casual look, try an empire waist top paired with slim jeans. Or for evening, choose a dress in a fabric like satin and pair with strappy heels.

Blazers With Jeans - This is truly the most versatile fall fashion trend. For a feminine look, try a pastel blazer with a lace camisole in a matching shade with skinny faded jeans and heels. Or, go for a classic look with a white shirt, black blazer, dark jeans and black boots.

Jersey Dresses - These are great for day or evening because the fabric is meant to drape. This forgiving fabric hugs curves yet slides over imperfections. You can wear a jersey dress with leather boots or high heels.

Velvets - From casual to evening wear, this fabric is beautiful for fall and winter. Pair a velvet blazer with jeans and heels for a classic casual look. For dinner out or a special occasion, try a velvet top with crepe pants or a skirt.

Pencil Skirts - These skirts are always in fashion. The key is to get the right length. Choose a pencil skirt that's knee-length and pair with medium pumps or skinny stilettos for a sexy look. Top the skirt with a white blouse and strands of pearls or a tunic top with a skinny belt.

So this fall, go back to the basics. By wearing these time-honored classics, you'll never look out of style.
