I am really looking forward to Spring and the beautiful colors it brings. I also need some new color in my living room to freshen the look for Spring. Can you give me some ideas on how to make small improvements without redecorating the entire room?

Even though it's time to go outside to enjoy the weather, it's nice to bring a bit of the season into your home. I know what you are thinking. Rose bushes, sod, taxes are due and on and on. But there are clever ways of freshening your indoors without breaking the bank. Think small punches. Pillows, a painted accent wall, a small upholstered piece of

furniture, a simple valance! Any or all of these ideas will make a dramatic change in a room without having to take out a second mortgage.

Pillows. Needlepoint, chenille, custom, or K-Mart. They can add so much to a room. Buy in odd numbers, even can be so boring.

Painted accent wall. A quart of paint can go a long way. Take the tertiary color from that area rug and color the wall with the fireplace. Wow. There it is! Small upholstered piece. You have been looking to 'weight' the room, but how? With a clean-lined, simple, transitional piece that doesn't scream. Try taupe, vanilla or soft ecru. Mix it with the pieces that you already have and breathe new life into a space.

Simple Valance. One yard of fabric will treat two... maybe three windows. Choose something timeless but powerful. Zand if you cannot sew or call on a pro. If they are decent they will be happy to take your own fabric and create something magical.
