Everyone over the age of 40 knows the challenges we face trying to save our face from the ravages of age. From sagging skin and sun damage to wrinkles and age spots, we must find a multiple of solutions to fight the effects of aging. There are many non-surgical procedures available today that can certainly help rejuvenate our skin such as chemical peels and CO2 laser resurfacing. Botox, Restylene and Radiesse can reduce wrinkles. But there are other things that we can do or not do that will help to knock years off your face.

The number one thing that will rob your skin of its beauty, make it look blotchy and rough and cause you to look older is the sun. Because it affects multiple skin layers, the sun can cause discoloring and broken blood vessels. Over time, it can damage the collagen, causing sagging and wrinkles. Protecting yourself from the sun is the best shield against extrinsic aging. And that includes wearing sun-protective clothing and sunscreen everyday. Choose a photostable sunscreen that will still be effective after sitting in your car or your purse. (Safesun Z SPF 30)

Other things to do that will keep you younger looking is to get a good night's sleep, stop smoking, reduce stress, eat a well-balanced diet, drink eight glasses of water a day, moderate your intake of caffeine, alcohol and sugar, exercise your body but not your face and ... keep smiling!
