There's so much to do for the holidays. Gifts to buy, meals to cook, parties to plan, parties to attend, family visits, friends invitations, gifts to wrap, gifts to exchange. Whew, who has time to breath! To enjoy the season here are a few tips to cope with all the stress and demands.

  1. Don't skimp on your nightly sleep. Maintain your usual bed and wake up time to keep a sense of balance and order.
  2. Rejuvenate mid day by sitting in a comfortable chair, preferably with legs elevated, which sends a stronger message to the brain that it is time for a rest. Lay your head back and close your eyes and slowly breathe deeply, visualizing the smooth and rhythmic movement of your chest rise and fall. Rest for 10 minutes. At the end of your rest, you will feel perky and spirited, prepared to tackle your next item on the to do list.
  3. Eat balanced meals, with adequate protein content. Fluctuating blood sugars can promote anxiety, forgetfulness, and will physically and emotionally stress your body. In a hurry, drink Keifir, a liquid yogurt like drink, rich in antioxidants, healthy bacteria, and 14gms of protein for 8oz.
  4. Snack with slices of colorful vegetables, like red, green or yellow peppers, carrots, yellow, and green squash. Place in a baggie and have a no mess munchies as you shop. These antioxidant rich veggies will support your immune system.
  5. Exercise. What better place to do a workout then the mall. Before you begin shopping do a few brisk laps around the mall. You'll be doing a mini work out while your window-shopping and organizing you plan of attack on each store.
  6. Take a "neutral bath," that is water very close to body temperature, between 94 degrees F & 96 degrees F. Add 2 to 3 drops of essential oils lavender, rosemary, jasmine, rose, neroli, and or lemon. This, the most relaxing of all baths, requires total submersion to neck for at least 20 minutes for maximum stress release. Taken before bed it promotes the most restful sleep.
  7. Feeling anxious and stressed? Smell something with vanilla, rose, or lavender scents. Carry some powdered sage in a small baggie and when feeling stressed or tense, open and gently inhale and savor the calming aroma. Kids wound up, sprinkle some sage around and see them become quiet and calm.
  8. Make a floral calming sprits, which rebalances your aura. Take a 5oz atomizer or pump action spray and add 2 teaspoons of vodka, and 2 drops of each of these essential oils: lavender, frankincense, geranium, and cedar. Shake vigorously to mix all oils. Then, add 2 drops of each flower essence: aloe vera, lotus, orchid, and yarrow. Fill the bottle with spring water and shake again. Spray around your head, neck and body to refresh your energy field and protect from negative energies.
  9. Do self-massage.
