CHADDSFORD DAYS
   
September 6-7 This open air fair celebrates Chadds Ford artistic and historical heritage. Admission is free. Held in the meadow behind the Chadds Ford Historical Society, the fair features artisans demonstrating colonial crafts as well as liver music, art work, antiques and many more exciting things. Fairgoers can enjoy delicious food from Chadds Ford's most popular area restaurants and micro-brews and wines at the colonial tavern while listening to musicians performing live. Shoppers return every year for the unique wares sold by traditional crafters as wel l as the distinctive artwork of noted artists of the Brandywine school. The Kids' Korner offers plenty of games, rides and activities. 10am-5pm
   
CHADDSFORD WINERY LABOR DAY
Weekend Jazz Festival
   
August 30 and 31, and September 1

End the summer season with cool wines and hot jazz! Grab a blanket, invite some friends, and come out to the Chester County countryside to enjoy the sights and smells of the harvest season as you taste a selection of award-winning Chaddsford wines in the winemaking and barrel-aging cellars. Then relax and settle in for a day of wine and music featuring great camaraderie, great wine and foods, two live Jazz bands each day, and picnicking on the scenic winery grounds. Admission: $20/person, includes winetastings, souvenir wine glass, and concerts. Foods available from Pace One Restaurant, or bring your own picnic. No other alcoholic beverages permitted on grounds. 12-6pm.

   
CHESTER COUNTY DAY

The 68th Annual Chester County Day House Tour is an all-day tour of historic homes, gardens and landmarks in Chester County. The tour is organized by the Women's Auxiliary and a dedicated corps of volunteers. All proceeds are for the benefit of Chester County Hospital Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 on the day of the tour if available. There is a combination bus-tour ticket available for $55. Tickets may be bought online at www.cchosp.com or by calling 610-431-5301.

In its twelfth year, the festival presents a full spectrum of colorful work that falls within, between and sometimes beyond the standard categories of theater, dance, performance art, music, poetry, puppetry and visual arts. September 13-14 Our annual scarecrow-making workshop has been a family favorite for years. Take home your very own scarecrow creation. ($25 fee per scarecrow, reservations recommended.) A pumpkin painting workshop on Sunday, and live entertainment and pumpkin pie eating contests both days. Stroll among the many colorful scarecrows on display throughout the village. 10am-6pm. LUDWIG'S CORNER HORSE SHOW AND COUNTRY FAIR

August 30-September 1 Cap off the summer with three days of non-rated competition which gives hunter and jumper riders the opportunity to show before large crowds in a fun-filled, country fair atmosphere. More than 500 horses compete in this show which has been a tradition for generations of families for over half a century. 8am-6pm each day.
   
September 20 MargaritaVilla. A benefit for Mommy's Light Lives On Fund(r) at the Haverford, PA home of Linda and Ian Swain of Swain Entertainment. Help maternally bereaved children while enjoying a fun-filled night of island music, tropical drinks, dancing and a scrumptious feast. Tickets $125 per person. THE SCOTT ARBORETUM

Located at Swarthmore College, 500 College Ave., Swarthmore. Office hours are Mon-Fri, 8:30am-Noon and 1pm-4:30pm. The Arboretum is open to the public year-round, free of charge, from dawn to dusk. September 11, 6-8pm Sunset Sippin': Chartreuse & Chardonnay. Enjoy the striking color of chartreuse in the Terry Shane Teaching Garden while enjoying a glass of Chardonnay. This year's annual border features a vivid combination of chartreuse plants like Jasminum officinale 'Fiona Sunrise', Nephrolepis exaltata 'Tiger', and Xanthosoma maffa 'Aurea'. The evening will also include a raffle for great prizes, as well as tours by Arboretum staff.
   
September 13, 11am to 12:30pm Guided Tour: Green Roof Tour. Learn about the inner-workings, benefits, and beauty of green roofs while exploring the two we have at the Arboretum. Please note the level of difficulty on these tours is higher than others we offer: a brisk walk is required between the two gardens and the second roof is reached only by a narrow, steep ladder. Free and open to the public.
   
SKIPPACK VILLAGE

Once a stop on the 1900's rural trolley route, Skippack Village is now one of the quaintest shopping villages in the state. Creativity and craftsmanship, along with a warm country atmosphere, pervade the antique, craft and specialty shops, art galleries and fine restaurants, open year round. Most shops are tucked into renovated original 18th and 19th century buildings, homes, and barns. Through Labor Day Skippack Under the Stars. Shops stay open late every Friday until Labor Day.
